The Skin Guide to Surviving Winter

Every winter since I moved to Chicago is the exact same routine for me. A combination of every type of remedy I can google to prevent my tropical raised skin from looking like a crocodile. It feels like each year, the things I put my self through get crazier and crazier.

This year, I decided to spend more time understanding how to prevent dryness in winter skin instead of trying to fix it when it happens. This meant going back into the very place where my skin looses most of its moisture : the shower.

While researching the way weather affects my skin, I came across this quote that changed things.

"Our skin contains special proteins and fats that make up a protective barrier and lock in moisture to protect us from harsh outside environments. Dry winter air, forced-air heating, extremes of temperature and the frequent hot baths and showers we take all strip our skin of this natural protection,” - Dr. Megan Moore

That is where things changed for me, and I spent the rest of my research fining products that could help protect my skin in the shower. This led me to take the Olay winter skin challenge that aimed to help keep my winter skin as smooth and as moisturized as my summer skin.

During the challenge I will be using the Olay Moisture ribbons plus body wash. This formula is designed with double ribbon formula that helps combat winter skin from inside the shower by adding back in moisture during the cleaning process.

So far I have used the Manuka honey scented version and I am loving how soft my skin feels after the shower (and there is truly no itching).

I will continue to update you on how it all turns out, and I encourage you to all join me on this challenge!!!
