You all get to see me travel to places all over the world, and that is incredibly fun, but sometimes there are places to discover nearby! This is one of the challenges I gave myself this year, and I kept to my promise with my recent trip to Milwaukee.

One of my close friends Tino and I wanted to have an impromptu girls weekend filled with good food and unique experiences. We decided on heading to Milwaukee which was a one and a half hour train ride from Chicago ($29 ticket).

One of the key things was to stay at a hotel that was as unique and artistic as the city. I for one do not like to stay in chain hotels because I hate the mundane ness of the rooms, but once I did some research...the Kimpton Journeyman Hotel was actually quite amazing!!!! (See some photos below...including the AMAZING bathroom in the Spa room).

One of the best things at the hotel was the amazing service. I made great friends with all the staff (which HARDLY ever happens), I even convinced miss Brenda from the housekeeping team to get a photo with me! She was the sweetest.

The next morning we headed to brunch in the hotels restaurant Tre Rivali. I did a post recently about my dinner there , and while I enjoyed the dinner...the brunch blew me away. I had the lamb burger which was one of the most flavorful burgers I have ever had (and I hardly eat burgers). To be honest, any burger that comes with an egg always blows me away!!!

After brunch, we took a really short uber ride to the Milwaukee Art Museum. We spent a good hour wandering around the beautiful exhibitions. I quite loved all the abstract pieces and the rich stories that each one told.

That evening, after a much needed nap in our rooms, we grabbed a quick drink at the Hotel's rooftop bar called The Outsider. The rooftop is beautifully decorated with some amazing flower pieces and great furniture. My favorite part was the option to be seated out in the sun, or in the shade. I am definitely not a sun kinda girl, so being able to enjoy the view while being shaded gave the rooftop bonus points for me.

Post drinks, we headed to the upscale restaurant Bacchus where we had one of the most fulfilling food experiences! Every single ingredient, every single dish and every single combination has a story and a local origin. Some of my favorites were the crispy shrimp, the Wagyu Bavette Beef and the I basically devoured the entire menu and even got two of the sticky toffee dessert. (But don't tell anyone).

This was definitely a trip that left me with the same sense of adventure that I feel when I travel overseas! I feel that there is so much more in Milwaukee that I have yet to see, and I cannot wait to go back and explore some more!!!!
