A ton of you have asked me for tips on how to stylishly dress down this summer. Now I will admit that I am not a professional dress-downer. I live to wear bold crazy pieces with character, but this was great challenge.
The truth is that dressing down stylishly is actually pretty easy. I work with something I call the three elements of character. And it goes like this --->
When shopping for casual pieces, I keep my denim simple, but always add a form of elevation. (In this case I went for the River Island plus size distressed denim jeans.
I add full character to my top. I am into a ton of print tops this season, and I am constantly on the hunt for ones that are unique. I loved the mix of floral and text patterns for this top, and it added the perfect level of chic and edge.
Lastly I opt for comfortable shoes. There is nothing worse than shoes which ruin a look because you are in PAIN! These River Island heels are super comfy. The heel is a block rather than a stiletto, and the strap over the toes is thick as well.
All in all, the look comes together perfectly and while it is casual, there is still a unique sense of style to it. Have a look at more photos, and shop some looks below.
Top - I am wearing a size 14. This top runs a little large so get your true size.
Jeans - I have owned these jeans for almost a year and they are still in amazing shape. Definitely worth the price. I am wearing a US 16.
Shoes - EVERYONE needs to own these shoes. They are stylish but extremely comfy. I own them in a size 11.
A big thank you to the River Island Team for partnering with me on this post, and for supporting me from day 1 of my blogging career!
