As I humbly embrace the blessing of seeing another birthday, I have chosen not to write, but to rather share with you some of the poems that have best defined my journey here, and that to come. Enjoy!

She knew not

She knew not what to do,
and so she read

She knew not what to see,
and so she imagined

She knew not what to hear,
and so she felt

She knew not what to say,
and so she spoke

She knew not what to be,
and so she became

An adaptation from the Poem "He"

Dear Self (Mine and Yours),

Please love life.
Please persevere.
There is beauty beyond the wall, I promise you, dear,
Please don't live in fear.
If you can love something that hurts you,
Why shouldn't that include yourself, too?

My scars bring me pride.
My scars bring me pain.
Scars on the outside
And scars in my brain.

Some that you can see
And some that you can’t.
They’re all a part of me.
Sometimes they’re all I am.

But I can be much more than
The marks on my skin.
If I remember who I am,
Then the scars won’t win.

Collapse in the evening
and in the morning rise.
You’re the hero of this story
and you will overcome all demise.

"The Beauty Of A Woman"

The beauty of a woman Is not in the clothes she wears,
The figure that she carries, Or the way she combs her hair.

The beauty of a woman must be seen from in her eyes,
Because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides.

The beauty of a woman is not in a facial mole,
But true beauty in a woman Is reflected in her soul.

It is the caring that she lovingly gives,
The passion that she shows,
And the beauty of a woman
With passing years only grows.
