The Concrete Rose - Featuring Kiyonna Curves
Did you hear about the rose that grew
from a crack in the concrete?
Proving nature's law is wrong it
learned to walk with out having feet.
Funny it seems, but by keeping its dreams,
it learned to breathe fresh air.
Long live the rose that grew from concrete
when no one else ever cared.
There is something so so beautiful about a woman who lives a beautiful life, built upon the foundations of experience and pain. When she walks you see the confidence, not just in herself, but in the faith that no matter what happens ahead, she will rise again. I believe in myself as a rose grown through the cracks of the concrete of experience.
There was something so comforting about this shoot. I usually shoot each look for so long, but when I put on this Rose Quartz dress from Kiyonna, and I saw the concrete path ahead…I knew that this shoot meant more to me than any other. The dress in itself hugged my every curve in the most comforting way. The fabric and the detailing felt like it was made just for this body. The color was delicate but unapologetically present as it contrasted on my skin.
To be in the sun that day, was something I can never fully explain. I found so much joy in this dress, the way it made me feel and the way it crowned everything that makes me a woman. A proud African woman. Born in the land of the sun, and made to shine just like one.

I want to call out the gorgeous lipstick that I have on. This is from a Canadian brand called Lips by Danilea. I have absolutely fallen in love with this brand. The color was so rich on my skin, and it didn’t leave my lips looking dry or dehydrated. Take a look at her brand by clicking the link below, and use code HAYETRIDA for a discount.
